Southtech Limited Implements ERP Solution for BdREN

On 28 June 2016, Southtech limited successfully implemented an ERP solution in Bangladesh Research and Education Network (BdREN), a project of the University Grants Commission, Bangladesh.

The ERP solution, a customized version of Southtech’s Smart Fusion Plus ERP solution supports the essential functions of BdREN’s business processes and operations efficiently and is tailored to the specific needs of its industry. The ERP solution consists of several modules, namely Security and Administration, Service Management, Human Resources Management, Financial Management and Procurement and Sourcing. The solution ensures security and integrity of BdREN’s data as well as smooth access to data as required.

Given BdREN’s objective is to connect resources throughout the country, this ERP solution has been able to automate and connect is daily activities. This centralized system stores information securely, through the Security and Administration module, making the IT staff efficient and organized. The Human Resources module of Southtech’s ERP solution now allows BdREN to automate its hiring process for all its employees. The Financial Management module enables all expenditures and budgets to be monitored and controlled by decision makers. The Procurement and Sourcing module ensures stock is managed efficiently. The Service Management module is integrated with the Accounting module so that any cash flow is monitored by the Management body.
Besides this ERP solution another system was developed for BdREN, a Helpdesk Management solution. This system is integrated with all of BdREN’s external resources (universities, libraries, academics etc.) whereby queries can be raised and directed to the right resources for answers. This solution allows BdREN’s objective of ‘connecting and supporting geographically dispersed academics, scientists and researchers with reliable access to high-end computing, simulation tools and datasets’.
