Dhaka, 23 June, 2016: Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB), the regulatory body for all aviation related undertakings in Bangladesh, signed an agreement with Southtech Limited for the “Implementation of ICT and e-Governance including Networking, Automation and Computerization of CAAB on Turnkey basis”. A joint venture consortium, led by Southtech Limited, won this competitive bid to implement the project.
In a ceremony held at CAAB Headquarters, Kurmitola, Mr. Md. A. Hamid Zamadder, Director, Central Engineering Maintenance and Stores Unit (CEMSU) of CAAB and Mr. Syed Mamnun Quader, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Southtech Limited, Dhaka, Bangladesh signed the agreement.
CAAB is the custodian of all airfields and air navigation facilities in Bangladesh. Their services include aeronautical provision, safe and efficient flow of air traffic within the Flight Information Region. In December 1971, after the liberation war, the aviation authority started its journey in Bangladesh. At present, the functions of aviation authority are being carried out from 3 international and 12 domestic airports.
